Morrigan is among the wives of Baltrus, and is the keeper of the Keys to the Gates of Death. Hers is the Court of Winter, when even the Lord Sun Baltrus shines a little less brightly. Some claim Morrigan to be the bride to Baltrus’ devious and malicious side, but this is a misunderstanding of what Morrigan stands for. Ultimately, all things end, and it is Morrigan’s place to stand at the end of all things, ready to collect what remains. Few people consider themselves “followers” of Morrigan, but it is also considered poor form to test her authority with necromancy or disturbing the dead; most humans fear but respect Morrigan and recognize that one day she will lead them to the Final Hall. The Elderly especially speak fondly of Morrigan, with some very old having even claimed visions and conversations with the Crone that were simultaneously chilling and calming. Still, most are not terrible anxious to have their moment with the Crone; the old Human saying “By Morrigan’s eyes” derives from the belief that once you have looked into the Winter Queen’s eyes, your life has reached its end.
