Prenda is among the wives of Baltrus, the youngest and most cheerful. Hers is the Court of Spring, the time of bloom. Prenda believes in freedom and joy, preferring to spend her days in luxury rather than labor, and embodies both innocence and discovery. Thus, those who claim to be among the Court of Spring argue for liberty above all else; their cardinal law is “Let no man shackle that which King Baltrus created free”. This has led several to be outspoken advocates for more democratic forms of government, and even some to be out-and-out anarchists. Critics of the Spring Court regard its followers as radical hedonists, often shunning responsibility for pleasure and order for madness. Defensive followers may argue that they would rather be lazy than caught into bondage, and that Prenda guides all towards the Great Joy. Few can claim to have not seen the dark side of The Maiden however, whether through unrequited affection, an unfaithful lover, or some other malady of the heart.
